After a pretty uneventful and straightforward journey to Vancouver yesterday, we are biding our time at an airport hotel until our flight to Terrace at 12.40. We seemed to be awake for most of the night. The 8 hour time difference takes some adjustment! From Terrace it is roughly an hour drive to Kitimat, where we shall be based in a simple lodge for the next week. Paul will be fly fishing and hoping to catch steelhead, but also salmon and coho. I shall be photographing the local wildlife, which I hope will include bears, wolves, elk and lots more.

Our second week will be spent aboard a Canadian Geographic Photography cruise and should hopefully provide some awesome photo opportunities including whales, orcas and sea otters as well as birds and the aforementioned bears etc. They are all here to feast on the annual salmon run. It would seem too, that there is an outside chance of seeing the northern lights during our trip. Fingers crossed!
